Anthology Submissions - CLOSED
Submissions for anthology of writing that risks now closed.
Guidelines are archived here for reference only.
We seek new literary work that breaks from the confines of mainstream realism to surprise, delight, and challenge readers. Send us writing that crosses boundaries of form, content, and style either subtly or radically. Send us works of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction that are too fabulist, surrealist, or experimental for traditional publishers. We are glad to consider work that uses genre elements in interesting ways (e.g. an urban noir fairy tale), but we are not looking for work that is primarily aimed at a genre audience (e.g. high fantasy or hard science fiction). All submissions must be previously unpublished in print or electronically (e.g. on a publicly viewable website or personal blog). In addition to the anthology guidelines, please carefully read our general guidelines before submitting.
Submission Guidelines
We are interested in short and long pieces. Documents should be formatted for readability. Please send a brief cover letter and bio with your submission.
One submission per person, please. Simultaneous submissions are OK as long as you notify us right away if the work is accepted elsewhere.
Publication Information
The anthology is scheduled for publication in Spring 2013.
The anthology will be published in print and electronic formats. The anthology will be sold over the web as an e-book and print-on-demand book. Individual pieces may be excerpted or appear in their entirety on the Red Bridge Press website and other marketing materials promoting the anthology or the Press. Pieces may also appear, in whole or part, on retail and other websites to promote sales, e.g. as a preview on Amazon.com.
Payment
Authors will receive an honorarium as well as two contributor copies of the print book and a copy of the e-book. The honorarium will be at least $25.
Red Bridge Press is committed to paying authors fairly for their work and eventually matching or exceeding industry standards. This first publication will be paid for in part by a crowd-sourced fundraising campaign. Should we surpass our campaign goals, we will share that success with authors by increasing the honorarium amount.
Licensing
By agreeing to appear in this anthology you transfer to Red Bridge Press the exclusive right to be the first publisher of the work in English, in both print and electronic formats, including online, for one year. Thereafter, Red Bridge Press has the perpetual, nonexclusive right to sell the work as part of the anthology collection. After one year, you may license or sell your work to other publishers or otherwise publicly share the work. Should we want to reprint or translate the work later, we’ll solicit a new agreement from you. Copyright in the work reverts to the author. Copyright in the anthology collection is owned by Red Bridge Press.
