Our Story
Red Bridge Press laid its foundations in December 2010 when Liana Holmberg and Deborah Steinberg were gigging at literary readings in San Francisco. They quickly recognized a kindred aesthetic and a shared passion for bringing great, cross-genre writing to an audience hungry for intrepid ideas and inimitable voices. In May 2012, they co-founded Red Bridge Press. The first call for submissions went up in September, 2012, and by the time submissions closed in December, almost 500 authors had sent in work. The resulting anthology, Writing That Risks: New Work from Beyond the Mainstream, was published in July, 2013, and features 29 award-winning and emerging authors from around the world. In February, 2014, the Press launched its online magazine Rivet: the Journal of Writing That Risks.
